to take the series but it wasn't meant to
be.
Justin Dunn was throwing a no-hitter
into the six inning, however, a home run
by Wil Myers with two runners on base
gave the Padres a 3-1 lead
The Mariners tied the game in the sixth
inning by Dylan Moore with a runner
on base. Moore certainly making it hard
for the Mariners keep him out of the lineup.
He most likely start at second base but will
play elsewhere when needed.
The Mariners scored in the bottom of the
10th after the Padres did. The Padres score
though had to do with an error. The Padres
won in the 11th scoring three runs. Only
one of the runs was earned so the Mariners
without the error may have had a chance
to tie or win the game. The final score was
7-4.
The Padres winning the game clinched a
spot in the playoffs. The Mariners are now
four games behind the Houston Astros.
The Mariners and Astros come to Seattle
to play a three game series. The Mariners
have to win all three games to really have
any chance to get into the playoffs. The
Mariners have a 23-30 record with seven
Mariners have a 23-30 record with seven
games remaining. The Mariners season
will end on Sunday in Oakland. The A's
have clinched a playoff spot. The A's
and Mariners will play a four game series
including a double header on Saturday.
Thursday will be their last day off.
I will let you know who I think will
return next season. Of course, with
trader Jerry Dipoto things could change
in that regard as well.
Though the Mariners will end with a
losing record it was expected by us
all but they did make some excitement
during this shorten season too.
Thursday on the day off I will let you
know who I think won't be back. Go M's.
