night Justus Sheffield went seven inning
giving up two runs on five hits though he
walked three but did strike out seven.
Sheffield is showing right now besides
Marco Gonzales he is a pitcher on the
starting rotation can go longer in the game.
Long term with youngsters like Logan
Gilbert coming up it is hard to know for
how long Sheffield will be in the Mariners
rotation but right now he is showing that
he is belonging. His ERA is 4.06. Not
outstanding but not bad in this day and
age.
The important thing is for Sheffield to
go deep into game allowing the Mariners
to have a chance to win.
The Mariners got off to a good start
Saturday helping Sheffield out by
scoring four runs in the top of the
fourth inning. It included a home run
by newcomer Ty France. It was his
second homer since joining the team
at the beginning of the month. He has
hit a home run in back to back games.
He has six rbi's in the short time with
the Mariners.
Jose Marmolejos was a big contributor
as well. He hit a home run in the fifth
inning with Kyle Seager on base. Jose
has raised his average from .103 to
.247 since being called up on August
27 to play in the double header at
San Diego. He has four home runs
since the call up.
Both France and Marmolejos could
be big contributors in the Mariners
final 15 games. The Mariners are
two and half games behind the Astros
for second place with a record of 20-25.
Remember the Seattle Seahawks kick
off their season this morning Seattle
time while they take on the Falcons
in Atlanta. Last year the Seahawks
beat the Falcons in Atlanta in October
27-20. It will be a good start if the
Seahawks can win by a similar score.
Let you know how they do.
You can watch the Seahawks then follow
up with the Mariners game. Go teams!
