had the opportunity to sweep
though a couple games before
they had wins by the bat of Cal
Raleigh.
The Mariners lost to the White
Sox Thursday evening 3-2 in
ten innings. The Mariners were
down 2-1 going into the bottom
of the 9th when Julio Rodriguez
hit a home run to tie the game.
It was a high pitch and many
hitters can't do that for a home
run.
The 10th inning the White Sox
were able to get a single moving
the runner to third. They were
able to get a grounder to third
baseman Josh Rojas to score
the runner. Unfortunately the
Mariners were unable to do
the same.
The Mariners were able to get
seven innings out of Emerson
Hancock who was called up.
He surrendered two runs back
to back however that was it.
I expect the Mariners will
add another reliever on Friday.
I have read a few fans on line
saying the Mariners should
wait to the trading deadline
to make trades. The Mariners
do have weaknesses they should
take care of before the deadline.
Even if they wait for a hitter I
believe they need to go out and
get a closer. We have no idea
how often Munoz can pitch and
when Santos will be available.
Can't overuse Stanek and he is
really the only other reliever who
can close. Even those like Trent
Thornton are being overused.
The Mariners now take on the
Rangers and Cleveland in the
next two series. The Mariners
offense needs to come alive.
Go M's!
