The Seahawks Defense

We know the Seahawks defense will
look different than in the past with
new head coach and former defense
coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens
Mike Macdonald.

The positions may look the same as
do with most in the NFL however the
way is played out is the question or
answer.

The depth chat may have the name
where the defensive player position
is supposed to be however we should
expect the players to move around.

An example is Dremont Jones. He is
listed as the right defensive end
however during otas and minicamps
he was playing some at edge rusher/
outside linebacker.

The Seahawks number one draft pick
this year Bryon Murphy II is listed
behind Jones as right defensive end
however we should see a lot of him
whether there or somewhere else
on the line.

Leonard Williams who the Seahawks
acquired last season is listed at left
defensive end. Jarran Reed is the
starting nose tackle at this time
however we could see Williams moved
inside. The Seahawks were one of
the worst teams against the run so
whatever the Seahawks have to do
improve it they will do so.

Last year's number one pick Devon
Witherspoon is listed as the nickel
back however he will be doing a lot
of free lance roaming wherever he
is needed. Last year's cornerbacks
Riq Woolen and Michael Jackson
each had poor seasons. If they don't
play much better Witherspoon's
assistance will be important as well
the safeties. The pass rush will be
important to help out as well.

The inside linebackers will need
improvement too. We have two
new starters as Bobby Wagner
and Jordyn Brooks signed as
free agents else where.Both
starters have had to work through
injuries this offseason. During
the offseason training Jon Rattigan
better known for his special teams
worked played with the first unit
during these training sessions.
Though not expecting to start
working out with the first unit
will help his value.

The Seahawks will have this year's
fourth round pick Tyrice Knight in
the mix at inside linebacker. Though
there is two inside linebacker spots
sometimes they will go with only
one on passing downs.

Anyway the first preseason game
will give us some insight what the
defense will look like though more
so by the opening game of the
season. We should be excited to
see how the new defense looks
and improvement over the season.
Go Hawks!
