Saturday where one run was
scored by each team then the
opposing team scored a bunch
of runs late.
The final was Colorado 6-1
Logan Gilbert pitched out-
standing in his second start
of the spring. He gave up
no hits in two and two-thirds
innings. Logan walked one
and struck out two.
All the relievers for the Mariners
who were in the ball game will
likely start the season in the
minors.
Julio Rodriguez started the game
with a double and was able
to move to third on an out. Randy
Arozarena walked and stole 2nd.
Unfortunately they were both
stranded with strikeouts. Something
the Mariners hope to see less of
this season though will happen
time to time.
The best at bat on the day was
by top prospects Colt Emerson
who started at shortstop. In his
first at bat he was able to hit a
number of foul balls. He ended
up getting hit by a pitch on ball
number 14. After the game
Colorado's pitcher was impressed.
Julio came up and took 11 pitches
before getting an out. Don't see
often where the pitcher throws
25 pitches to two batters in a row.
In all the pitcher threw 48 in two
innings.
The Mariners scored their only
run in the top of the fifth after
Colorado scored a run in the
bottom of the fourth. Samad
Taylor and Donovan Solano
had back to back singles.
Taylor went to third on double
play. He scored on a wild pitch.
Mariners reliever Hagen Danner
gave up the five runs in the 8th
inning to clinch the victory for
the Rockies. Most of the hits
were soft. Only one hard hit.
Bad luck indeed. In all he gave
up five hits and one walk.
Besides Julio, Taylor and Solano
hits the only other one was by
Harry Ford. He has six hits in
10 at bats so far in the spring.
Most likely start the season in
the minors however we could
be up sometime this season.
He just recently had his 22nd
birthday.
Monday the Mariners take on
the Cleveland Guardians in
Peoria. They will have an off
day on Tuesday. We could see
a lot of the regulars on Monday.
Go M's.
