players and freeing up a lot of salary
space.
They started by unloading veteran
offensive lineman George Fant and
three defensive players. The middle
of the week they released wide
receiver Tyler Lockett who is second
in every category including receptions
to Steve Largent.
The same day DK Metcalf announced
he wanted to be traded. So this meant
losing two starting receiver. On Sunday
Metcalf was traded to the Pittsburgh
Steelers for a second round pick.
Before Metcalf was traded on Friday
the Seahawks traded quarterback
Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders
for a third round pick. Geno told
the Seahawks he wanted more
money than they offered.
Now what will the Seahawks do to
replace two starting wide receivers
and quarterback? As far as Metcalf
and Geno they could draft a receiver
and a quarterback. The likelihood
even if they do both might sign both
spots in free agency.b
The top quarterback in free agency
is Sam Arnold and he likely cost
more than Geno however he is younger
and had a good season last season.
The question do you want a qb who
had one good year to be your starter.
The Seahawks have Sam Howell
so is he capable of being the
starter for at least one season.
We will see how it goes.
We do know that the Seahawks
plan to run the ball more or at
least more successfully. They
do have capable runners however
do need to improve the offensive
line. Most likely they will sign or
draft a center and at least one
quard. It comes down to what
side of the line.
Stay tuned this could be an interesting
week as well. The Seahawks did resign
defensive tackle Jarran Reed and
linebacker Ernest Jones IV. Both
signed three year deals with one
guaranteed. Jones is expected to
be the key to the defense next season.
We will keep you up to date on the
Seahawks. Though the Seahawks
are pretty stable on defense right
now the offense doesn't seem
that way. Go Hawks.
