Seahawks Release Player and Kraken Make Trade

There had been rumors or speculation
after the season that wide receiver
Tyler Lockett would be released.
Well it happened on Wednesday morning. Lockett hadn't been
doing as well the last couple years
and with a salary cap hit of $17
million the Seahawks felt it  was
time.

Lockett played ten years for the
Seahawks. He was drafted in the
3rd round. The Seahawks haven't
had many third rounders stick
around after him.

Lockett had four years in a row
where he had over a thousand yards
in receptions. He was the first
Seahawks receiver to catch a hundred
passes in a season. This last
season Jaxon Smith-Njigba became
the second to do so. When the
Seahawks drafted Jaxon only
time was when he would be
used more than Tyler.

Dies this mean that Tyler will
retire will retire since he has
other opportunities outside
of football such as real estate.
Now that Pete Carroll is head
coach of the Raiders and needs
to improve his team in players
that is a possibility. His story
as a football player may not
be over so stay tuned.

A few hours after that announcement
word came out that DK Metcalf
wants to be traded. It could be
over how much he wants to get
paid or something else. Since
Lockett's release it does give them
an additional $17 million. The
question is that enough or not.
We will see whether Metcalf will
be traded or that it was just a
ploy. One thing for sure the
Seahawks can't lose Metcalf
as well unless he is replaced
by as someone as good. A major
reason Jaxon had a good season
was Metcalf. Teams would often
double team him plus he made
some awesome blocks for Jaxon
and the other receivers. The
Seahawks want to be a better
running team having Metcalf
will help in that regard too.

On Wednesday the Seattle Kraken
who are likely not going to make
the playoffs this season in the
National Hockey League made an
outstanding trade with Tampa
Bay.

The Kraken receive Michael
Eyssimont along with three
draft picks. This coming
NHL draft they receive a 2nd
rounder plus a first rounder
in the next two drafts.

There is conditions though
in the next two years where
the draft picks can't be in the
top ten in either year. It comes
to pass the Kraken  will stay
out and get additional 3rd
round pick in 2028 and the
same if happens the following
year.

Tampa Bay receives Yanni Gourde
a center and ring winger Oliver
Bjorkstrand. Gourde is very popular
player with the Kraken beginning
on their expansion team. He will
be a free agent after the season and
at 33 years old how many takers
will he have. Hr played on two
Stanley Cup championships with
Tampa Bay too.

Word though is that Oliver Bjorkstrand
is the main player that Tampa Bay
wanted in the trade. We will see
how it works out as they want to
play in another Stanley Cup.

This trade will give the Kraken
five first round picks and four
in the second round. The Kraken
who want to get back to the
playoffs as soon as possible
have value whether they keep
all the picks or use them in
acquiring other players.

The trading deadline isn't over
until Friday so we could see
other trades happen too.
This trade helps in getting
salary cap space as well.
We look forward to see
what the Kraken fo to become
a better team. Go Kraken!
