Mariners Lose To Dodgers Friday Night

As we know and we can say
spring training games are
meaningless as far as who
wins. There has been teams
who have won in spring
training then has a terrible
season. The same goes the
other way too.

The Mariners lost to the
Dodgers Friday evening
6-4. Since the Dodgers
won the World Series
no shame in losing for
the Mariners.

An update on George
Kirby who has inflammation
on his shoulder will start
the season on the injured
list. General manager Justin
Hollander said before Friday's
game a MRI showed no
structural damage so a
precaution.

Once a week the Mariners will
have a look at George Kirby
go see when he can start
throwing again. The best
scenario would be that Kirby
would only miss two starts.
Depending on when he starts
throwing he could go on a
rehab assignment too.

Emerson Hancock started
Friday and went two and
a third innings. He gave
up three runs on four hits.
Hancock walked one and
struck out four. Outside
the stats he looked good.
He is expected to start
on the team in place of
Kirby.

The rotation right now to
start the season will likely
be Logan Gilbert, Bryce
Miller, Luis Castillo, Bryan
Woo and Emerson Hancock.
Last year when healthy
Bryce Miller and Bryan Woo
were the 4th and 5th starters.

The Mariners rotation is
such that the order isn't
so important other than
Hancock being the fifth
starter. Having Miller
and Woo not bsvk to
back might be a good
thing.

We will see the Mariners
face the A's in the first
series at home which is
four games. This means
that Hancock will start
the first game against
Detroit Tigers. The Mariners
will have a day off  the
first two Thursday's of
the season so an extra
day of rest will happen
for the starter.  After
that they have the Monday
off before the first long
road trip of the season.

The Mariners had a handful
of starters in this one. Victor
Robles was the only regular
outfielder to start and play.
Donavon Solano played
third base again. Jorge
Polanco once again was dh.
Be interesting to see whether
Solano will be the opening third
baseman.

Ryan Bliss started at second
and had a double in the game.
There is a good possibility he
will be the starting second
baseman.

The Mariners were scoreless
until the ninth inning when
catcher Blake Hunt came in
for Cal had a two-run homer
that was a blast over left
field. Right now looks to be
the guy if the Mariners need
a third catcher.

Saturday  afternoon the Mariners
will play on the road against the
Chicago Cubs. Logan Gilbert
will start. The game will be
shown on the MLB network.
Go M's.
