Bryan Woo Goes Wednesday

The Seattle Mariners take on
the Kansas City Royals Wednesday
afternoon in Peoria as the home
team. The Mariners had Tuesday
off.

Bryan Woo makes his third start
in the spring. He has given up
one hit in four innings and has
six strike outs. Only one walk
and no runs score.

Woo will try to go at least three
innings in this one. With George
Kirby on the shelf he will likely
be the 4th starter.  I would say
the best 4th starter.

Woo's goal is to stay healthy and
pitch at least six innings and go
further when he can. The Mariners
watched his pitch count the last
couple of seasons having not
pitched a lot in the minors. Now
though he should go as many
innings are expected.

Many teams have there starters
go five innings and sometimes
six. The number one starter they
hope to get at least six and
maybe seven. The Mariners
rotation is such that they hope
to get six and possibly seven.

With George Kirby out to start
the season getting five out of
5th starter Emerson Hancock
might be the best scenario.
This means the Mariners may
need to use four relievers or have
one go two innings. Since the
Mariners will have eight relievers
it does make it hard.

The Mariners do have at least three
days off in the first month of the
season so that will give the relievers
needed rest.

Gabe Speier who had a rough
2024 season seems to be back
at his old self. He and Tayler
Saucedo will be the main two
lefties in the bullpen. Brandyn
Garcia trying to make the third
lefty in the bullpen as a non-roster
invitee would be welcomed.
Garcia is a former starter so
he would be a good addition
especially since he could go
two innings and keep Speier
and Saucedo to pitch one inning
every two to three days.

The Mariners go with five righties
in the bullpen we would see Andre
Munoz and Gregory Santos as late
inning guys. Trent Thornton and Collin Snider the bridge to Munoz and Santos. Troy Taylor the fifth member
if he is healthy getting off to slow
start in spring training. If not him
then likely Eduard Bazardo.

Matt Brash expected back near
the end of April.

Looks like a good relieving core
at this time. Adding Brash will
certainly help Munoz and Santos.
Go M's.
