games on Thursday night. The
away game was at Arizona Diamondbacks where they lost
big time 11-4. It was the game
that they broadcast on TV for
the first of the spring. Also they
used the Arizona broadcasters.
On top of that I wanted to listen
on the radio with Rick Rizz. The
thing is it was the other game.
I am sure I wasn't the only one
disappointed and it was the better
game.
Julio was the dh in the Arizona
game however only a walk with
no hits. They did have eight hits
with the four runs. The trouble
was the Mariners used minor
league pitchers in the game.
The Mariners actually scored first
in the second inning with Samad
Taylor driving in Harry Ford and
Cade Marlowe. Jhonathan Diaz
who started gave up four runs
after two outs.
No runs were scored until the
seventh when Arizona scored
seven runs. Austin Kitchen a
lefty the Mariners acquired at
the end of last season gave up
three of the runs on one hit and
two walks. The hit wasn't a home
run either. He only was to get one
out. The following pitcher gave up
the other four runs with three
being unearned. On top of that
he made tge throwing error.
The home game in Peoria against
the Angels end up as a tie 5-5.
The Mariners tied it in the bottom
of the ninth. Like most games in
spring they usually don't go extra
innings.
On top of not able to see the
game on Roots Sports Bryan
Woo pitched very well. He went
two and one-thirds inning. Woo
gave one hit and one walk however
struck out six hitters.
Gregory Santos made his first
appearance in a game this spring.
He gave up a hit and unearned run.
Santos struck out two. The rest
of the relievers likely won't be
on the opening day roster.
The high light on offense was
that Mitch Garver hit a two-run
homer in the sixth inning. Cole
Young who has dh in most
games made his first start
at second base which is good
news.
With the season starting in 20
days the Mariners likely will
make more cuts real soon
especially in the pitching.
The Mariners will be taking
on the Dodgers Friday evening
in Peoria. Not indicated who
is starting however likely will
be George Kirby. This game
will be on Roots Sports and
will be broadcasted by the
Mariners broadcast team.
Go M's.
