Look At Mariners Minor League Teams

Since last Thursday the Tacoma Rainiers have been struggling.
They won their first three games
at home starting the Friday after
the Mariners. Last week they
went 2-4 in Reno. This week
playing Sacramento at home
they have lost both games.
So currently tied for last with
5-6 record. They are three games
behind Las Vegas at 8-3.

The Rainers have had a few pitchers
gone up to the Mariners already
with Emerson Hancock coming
down to Tacoma after his first
and the bullpen being over used.

Dominic Canzone was recalled
to the Mariners with the injury
to Victor Robles last Sunday and
he will be out three months.
Canzone was hitting .276 at time
of his call up. Leo Rivas was called
up on Wednesday to take the spot
of Ryan Bliss who was injured in
Tuesday's game. He likely be out
for at least a couple months. Rivas
was hitting .304 and leading the
Rainiers with six RBIs.

As of now Cole Young is struggling
at the plate hitting .171. Harry Ford
has slumped after getting off to a
good start now hitting .200. He and
Blake Hunt are sharing catching
duties. In my open Ford needs to
play more either at catcher or in
the outfield or at dh. Playing this way
is hurting his hitting.

Tyler Locklear is the Rainers top
hitter right now at .323. His best
game was on April 6 when he had
four hits.

The Arkansas Travelers the Double A
team along with Everett and Modesto
started their season last Friday.
The Travelers are 2-3 and lost the
first two games of the season.

Outfielder Victor Labrada is hitting
.400 in the five games and has the
Travelers only home run. Both
catchers are alternating as happening
through the beginning of the season.
In three games Connor Charping is.hitting .444 while Nick Raposo
is .333 in two games. Small sample
size.

We will look at more players next
Thursday on the Travelers.

The Everest Acqua Sox are 2-3
as well. They did win their season
opener last Friday. One of the
top prospects Lazaro Montes
has gotten off to a hot start
hitting .429 with two home runs
and six RBIs. A team high in
all three categories. At some point
he likely be up with the Travelers
next season. He could in the next
couple years be an outstanding
player for the Mariners.

Catcher Josh Caron who has
caught four games is hitting
.412. He has a home run and
five RBIs already. Michael
Arroyo another top infielder
prospect is getting off to a slow
start hitting .118. Currently he
is at dh though he can play all
the infield spots.

Colt Emerson the Mariners number
one prospect is hitting .308. The Mariners drafted him at number
one in 2023. He is already playing better than expected and among
the top of the prospects in baseball.
We could see him move up the
Mariners system quickly. He is
playing shortstop however he could
play at third base.

Mariners number one pick last
year Jurrangelo Cijntje has begun
his professional career this year in Everett. Mostly know to be able to
throw both right handed and left.
In his first start his first strike out
was throwing left handed and his
second was right handed. Being
a starter right now in the long run
with the Mariners hard to know
right now whether he will start or
put into tge bullpen. It will come
down to the Mariners needs.

Modesto the Mariners low single A
team has gotten off to a tremendous
start at 5-0. They have already scored
32 runs as a team. Seven players
are already hitting over .300.

Austin St. Laurent Modesto's third
baseman leads in hitting with .381
average. He isn't among the Mariners
top thirty prospects. Austin is 22
years old and drafted by the Mariners
in the 14th round last year. He played
in only three games last year for Modesto.

Felnin Celesten the Mariners number
five prospect could be the Mariners
starting shortstop in the future
is hitting .348 and leads Modesto
with six RBIs. Like Colt Emerson
he is only 19 and stardom is in
his makeup. The Mariners signed
him as an international player in
2023.

Ryan Sloan pitcher drafted out of
high school last year in the second
round and the Mariners eight top
prospect is at Modesto. Made one
start where he went one inning
giving up two runs on two hits.
It was his professional debut.
We expect greater things from
Ryan. We will let you know how
he progresses on the season.

So that's this weeks look at
the Mariners minor league teams.
The Mariners have Thursday off
and start a three game series at
home before going on the road.

The first team of three next week
will be against the Cincinnati Reds
starting on Tuesday. Go M's.
