Mariners Even Series in Toronto

The Seattle Mariners offense
is starting to build character
especially on this road trip.
Though they made running
mistakes on Friday tge came
back to make contributions.

It took the offense a while at
the same time Logan Gilbert
struggled on the mound. The
good thing he got out of trouble
when the Blue Jays had runners
on. For example Logan only gave
up one run in the first inning
when it could have been a lot
worse.

The Mariners didn't score until
the fifth inning where Cal hit
a ball to the right field corner
scoring two runs with Ben
Williamson and JP Crawford
 came home. This was after
Cal had a confrontation with
the Blue Jays starter and
all the Mariners players
came out.

The Blue Jays ended up scoring
a run in the bottom of the fifth
to tie the game. Logan Gilbert
was taken out at that point. He
was able to finish the fifth and
possibly get the win.

In the sixth inning the Blue Jays
scored another run however
the top of the seventh new
comer and third baseman Ben
Williamson hit his first major
league home run to tie the
game again. He isn't known
for his bat or power since
he had only four home runs in
the minors. We won't know
some time but he could
become a hitter as well as
a defender. There was thought
that top prospect Colt Emerson
may move from shortstop to
third base. The thing is that
could be in a couple years
and Williamson could cement
himself as the third baseman
by then. I am sure we won't
have a problem with that.
The Mariners do have three
guys to play second and third.

No more scoring happened
until the 12th inning. Randy
Arozarena hit a ball scoring
JP Crawford from third. The
feeling was that Andre Munoz
may have to pitch a second inning.
It turned out it was not necessarily
where Rowdy Tellez hit a grand slam
to make it a five run lead. Casey Lawrence who pitched an inning
on Friday night came in and
pitched the 12th. The Blue Jays
scored a run however they gave
up outs at the same time. Casey
didn't give up a single hit. Munoz
recorded his first win of the season.
So far he hasn't given up a run
on the season.

Luis Castillo starts on Easter Sunday
in another day game. We hope he
can rebound from his last start. It
would be nice if the Mariners can
win another series.

The Mariners and Angels are now
both two games behind the Rangers
The Mariners though have played
two more games than the Angels.

Matt Brash is doing rehab assignment
with the Rainiers. He is doing well
so far. He could be activated when
the Mariners return home unless
they want him in the Boston series
that begins on Tuesday. He will be
added good to the bullpen who
have had some struggles outside
of Munoz. Go M's.
