is a day game in San Francisco.
OnbWednesday Luis Castillo was
the winning pitcher.
Friday the Mariners are starting
another Luis Castillo who they
acquired during the off-season.
He is brought up from Tacoma
where he started the season.
He will start against Justin
Verlander. While Bryce Miller
will be moved back a day.
Early on the season it isn't
a bad idea to give starters
an extra day off as they to
increase their pitch count
and innings. This will help
in the long run is the theory.
There are rumors that the
Mariners would trade Luis
Castillo from Wednesday
during the off-season.
Those rumors are coming
again here he would be
traded to the Chicago Cubs
during the season. Would it
be withi a couple months or
at the trading deadline.
The Cubs are familiar with
Castillo as he played for the
Cincinnati Reds before coming
to Seattle. The Mariners in
return may get starter Matthew
Boyd who played for the Mariners
in the last of 2022 season. At
that time he pitched in relief
in ten games where he found
success.
Boyd has been a starter most
of his career. The Mariners
could use him in either role.
He was born in the Seattle
area so finishing his career
he may like. The Mariners
are expected to get two
pitching prospects and a
third base prospect too.
Currently Ben Williamson
is playing third base and
plays major league defense .
Whether he can do the same
hitting wise we will see.
Having another third base
project doesn't hurt in the
same having more pitching
isn't bad either. Go M's.
