the Texas Rangers 5-3. This might
be the first win of the season
on the way the Mariners will win
most of the time. We must face
that most wins will come this
way. We just hope they have several
more wins then losses.
Jorge Polanco the Mariners best
hitter so far on the season hit
a solo homer in the first inning.
It looks as though for the time
being he will be at dh. Rowdy
Tellez hit his first homer as a
Mariner. We hope this gets him
going.
The Rangers scored their first
run in the fourth inning on a
pop fly to Luke Raley. The M's
responded in the bottom of the
4th when JP Crawford hit s
ball just over the Rangers
shortstop's glove.
Bryce Miller went only five
innings despite giving up
the one run. He three 30
pitches in the first inning
without giving up a run.
He settled down after that.
He walked three while striking
out five batters. Only surrendered
two hits.
Trent Thornton struggled in his
one inning coming in for Miller.
It included giving up a two run
homer. He was followed by
an inning of Gabe Speier, Carlos
Vargas and Andre Munoz. Each
gave up a hit. It was Munoz fifth
ssvd on the season.
It is so important for the M's
to win the opening game.
Cal Raleigh hit a two-run
homer over right field for the
win in the 8th inning. It is
his 96th career break the
tie with Mike Zunino in most
home runs by a Mariners
catcher. I say it will be a
while before anyone breaks
his record.
Bryan Woo will start on Saturday
night followed by Logan Gilbert
on Sunday. The Mariners sent
Luis F. Castillo down to Tacoma
after his Wednesday's start.
The Rangers will start right
handers in all three games.
Dylan Moore didn't start Friday
night so we will see if he
starts any of these two
remaing games. Leo Rivas
who was recalled from
Tacoma when Ryan Bliss
went on th injured list
played second while Miles
Mastrobuioni played third.
Miles is a left handed bat
so may see Dylan against
lefties at third. For the
time being it will be Rivas,
Mastrobuoni and Moore
going at second and third.
Donovan Solano who is
the right hitting first baseman
right now could play some
third base as well. All comes
down to.who is playing the
best ball.
The Mariners are now 6-8
and in 4th place in the
American League west
standings. Go M's.
