spring training beating the Reds
7-6 Thursday night.
What was good in the game Cal
Raleigh hit a two run homer in the
first inning and Ryan Bliss a three
run homer in the seventh. What
was really good both home runs
were with two outs.
Another good thing was the Mariners
scored the two home runs while
they were behind. They scored a run
beforehand in both innings.
What was bad they scored only in
the first and seventh innings. The
Reds on the other hand scored four
different innings. Most of the time
a team will win scoring in four
innings.
The Mariners rebounded from a
terrible start by the pitching as well.
The starter was not any of the five
who will be in the rotation during the
season.
I am sure the Mariners learned they
must add on a run a few times along
with big innings to. Last season the
Mariners had a losing record in one
run games. Making the playoffs the
Mariners will need to have a winning
record in one run games and hopefully
have fewer ones. Go M's.
In other local sports both Gonzaga
and Washington State each won
their first round in the men's basketball
tournament on Thursday. Gonzaga's
was a blow out while the Cougars had
to come from behind to win. Drake was
ahead by eight points around the six minute mark remaining in the game.
The Cougars brought in a shorter
lineup and the defense sparked the
offense to win. Both teams will play
agsin on Saturday to see if they can
go to the round of sixteen. Wish both
the best.
