Mariners Win Gonzaga Doesn't

Mariners beat the Red Sox in game

2 Friday night. Both teams had pitching

however only four hits by both as

all. Sometimes early on pitching.

George Kirby started and going

six and two-thirds innings. Gave

up two hits, two walks while 

striking out eighth. Kirby had 

his trouble in the seventh and 

Gabe Speier came in getting 

the final out though surrendered

a hit. 

Closer Andre Munoz did well

coming in the eighth inning.

He ended up striking out the 

three batters in the 9th. Ryne

Stanek came in ahead of Munoz.

Stanek had a little trouble

being wild which included giving

up a hit and walked one. He didn't

look on the mound. He came

to the Mariners from the Astros

as a free agent. He signed March

10 so had to tell with not getting 

any runs. 

JP Crawford was the hitter of the

game as as he hit a home.run in

the sixth inning. Logan Gilbert

will start Saturday. Hopefully they

get some good huts and win easier.

Gonzaga played Friday evening

against number one Purdue. 

Gonzaga lost 80-68. Gonzaga

had three players who scored

in double figures. The bench

didn't help out scoring only

six points. 

The Zags didn't shoot well in

the field including three point

line was the reason for losing.

The Zags now will see if they

can make the tournament

again next year. It would help

if Purdue is in the final game.
