Padres in San Diego Tuesday
afternoon 7-6 to take the two
exhibition games to head into
the regular season.
The Mariners started most of
the regular lineup except Cal
Raleigh, Mitch Haniger and
Jorge Polanco. Julio hit a
home run in the first inning
with JP Crawford on base.
The Padres responded with
two runs of their own. Dylan
Moore hit a solo homer in
the second inning which
ended up the difference in
the game.
Casey Lawrence started as
Bryan Woo was placed on
the injured list. Emerson
Hancock will take Woo's
spot on the roster. Lawrence
seems to be the guy at this
time if the Mariners need
another starter.
Lawrence gave up the two
runs in the first inning but
settled down not giving
up anymore runs. He ended
up going five innings.
The game didn't get interesting
until the seventh when the
Mariners scored a run then
the Padres three for a 5-4
lead. The Mariners may have
not given up the runs with
a ball going under the shortstop
with two outs. No error was charged.
The Mariners scored three in
the top of the ninth. Padres
scored a run in the bottom of
the inning however the Mariners
were able to get out of it with
Padres leaving runnersvon base.
The Mariners minor leaguers
played most of the way in the
game. I am sure bolsted their
confidence.
Opening day is Thursday. We
will see the final roster before
the. Go Mariners!
