Huskies and Cougars Men's Both Win

The Huskies and Cougars men's
regular season is almost over with.
Now with two games remaining  and playing each other next week. Will
the two teams play each other in the
future? I am sure we will see.

The Huskies play well at home unlike
on the road. The Huskies snapped a nine
game losing streak to the UCLA Bruins.
They led most of the way. I am sure the
win won't keep Coach Hopkins his job
for another year.

The Huskies beat the Bruins at home
94-77. The difference  in the game
the Huskies shot 62.5% from behind
the 3 pt line. That says it all. The Bruins
shot 31.8% which is about average. Anything 40% or higher really good.
The Huskies made 15 3-pointers while
the Bruins made 7. That is 24 point
difference.

The Huskies have talented players
however Hopkins was not able to
take advantage of having them. Most
of the roster will be turned around
next year along with a new coach
we presume. The Huskies haven't
had much success since Hopkins first
two seasons which were made up of
players Romar had brought in.

The Huskies will play USC Trojans on
Saturday who almost beat the Cougars
in Pullman Thursday night.  The question
is what Huskies team will show up.

The Cougars beat the Trojans 75-72.
The first half looked like Cougars
might be upset for the second straight
time after beating Arizona on their
home court.

Freshman Isaiah Watts had a career
high 18 points for the Cougars along
with fellow teammate Andrej Jakimovski.
Also redshirt freshman Myles Rice who
is having s very good season had 16
points. The question I have for the
Huskies is why Watts isn't playing for
them like his father. The Huskies have
done well sort of with transfer portal
but not recruiting incoming freshmen.
Not one freshman had any significant
playing time for them while Watts had
some for the Cougars.

Gonzaga won to Thursday night beating
the San Fransisco Dons on their home
court 86-68. Not an easy task to win
on the road against a good team. The
game was close in the first half however
all Zags in the second half 51 points to
the Dons 34.

The Zags were led by Graham Ike with
26 points and Nolan Hickman with 23.
When Hickman scores like this the Zags
almost always win.

The Zags shot well from the field making
62.5 % of their shots. They only shot ten
times behind the 3 point line making three
of them. The Dons took many more shots
behind the line making seven of them.
Another reason the Zags won they made
23 out of 28 at the foul line while the Dons
made 7  of 14. Not a good percentage
however wouldn't have won anyway
without having more opportunities.

Saturday the Zags take on St. Mary's
in the final game of the regular season.
St. Mary's is undefeated and league
champions. The Zags will be second
place regardless of the outcome. It
will be a tough game and the Zags
will have to play their A gsmevto win.
Most likely will face each other in the
Conference tournament as well. Go Zags!
