Rainier's Win Opening Game

The Tacoma Rainiers like their
parent club won Friday night
1-0 in their season however it
took eleven innings to do so.

Leo Rivas who you may have
seen as a late replacement
in Mariner games during spring
training did the same in this one
for Tacoma. He didn't do anything
fancy except get on base as a
fielders choice as Samad Taylor
scored from third.

Brian Anderson who was one of
the casualties not making the
Mariners signed a minor league
deal. He started at third base.
He adds depth for the Mariners
in case an injury occurs at third
base. He had one of the three
hits on the day.

Johnathan Diaz started the opener
for the Rainers and he went five
innings giving up three of the four
hits while striking out five. He had
no walks. The Mariners signed Diaz
to a minor contract during the offseason.
Last year he pitched for the Angels
triple A. He adds depth in case the
Mariners need his service.

We will be updating you throughout
the season on the Rainiers. May begin
once a week then maybe twice monthly.
The Rainiers have a three game series
against OKC then go on the road for
six games. Throughout the season
the Rainiers will have six game series
on the road as well as at home.
