Gonzaga Wins Important Game

The Gonzaga  Bulldogs  men's basketball
team played at home Thursday night
against  the San Francisco  Dons.

It was important game for Gonzaga
also known as the Zags to win as
the two teams are battling for second
place in the West Coast  Conference.

The Zags beat the Dons 88- 77 to
move just ahead the Dons in second
place. They follow St. Mary's who
have only one loss in conference.
Gonzaga is now 10-3 while San
Francisco is 10-4. They do play
again the last game of the regular
season on March 1. They could
play in Conference Tournament.

The game was tight in the first
half with the score tied 38-38.
The Zags scored first in the
second half and never trailed
again and a dominating time.

The Zags had five players score
in double figures. The Dons  had
trouble stopping Graham Ike who
had 18 points along with 13
rebounds. Ryan  Nembhard matched
with 18 points. He had 12 as well.
Improving his Gonzaga record in
assists in the season.

Gonzaga will take on Pepperdine
Saturday  night  at  home. This
might be an easy  win as Pepperdine
is 8th in conference with a 4-9
and only two on the road on the
season. Go Zags.

The Washington  State  Cougars
only have one game this week
taking on St.Mary's  on the road.
They lost at home by five points
to St.Mary's  earlier. They are
6-7 in WCC  play.  They take on
Gonzaga at home next Wednesday.
It is a tough stretch for  the Cougars.

The Washington Huskies  play at
Penn State. The Huskies  have
trouble on the road only winning
once in the Big Ten.  Penn State
isn't  much better. The Huskies
lost  big time to Ohio State on
Wednesday losing by 24. Penn
State didn't  do much better at
USC on Tuesday

Both the Huskies  and Penn State
are fighting  to make the Big Ten
Tournament.  The lower of this
one probably  won't  be in although
both may not any way. The
tournament only has 15 teams
of the 19 going to be in it. Go Dawgs!
