men's basketball has hit a hard
patch losing their fifth game
in a row. They are seeing how
hard the West Coast Conference
is.
It was a close game most of the
way through. The Cougars had
to deal with several being in
foul trouble and never easy on
the road either.
Final Oregon State 82 WSU 74
The Cougars score 37 points in
each half. The Beavers had a
better second half after being
down by one at half time.
The Beavers were led by forward
Michael Rataj with 21 points. He
had sixteen in the second half.
Also led with eight rebounds.
They had three starters score in
double figures.
The Cougars had three players
in double figures as well. Nate
Calmese who is the Cougars
leading scorer had 25 points.
Being in foul trouble the foul line
was the reason the Cougars lost.
The Beavers made 20 points more
than the Cougars there.
The Beavers are hoping the way
they are playing will get them into
the NCAA tournament. They do
have a 7-4 conference record
and 17-7 overall the Beavers are
in fifth place in WCC. Though a
very good basketball conference
will the tournament take them
unless they move up. The Cougars
are in seventh place.
The Cougars take on Pepperdine
at home Saturday afternoon at 3.
Pepperdine is 3-7 so good shot
at ending their losing streak. After
that though they take on St. Mary's
and Gonzaga. Both games would
be upset wins for them. Go Cougs.
