Thursday afternoon to split the series.
Both teams could have won the
series though the Mariners had the
first opportunity. Game one they
came from behind in the 9th inning
to win. The Mariners won game
without question and the Yankees
gsme three.
The Mariners only had three hits in
game four. JP Crawford, Mitch Garver
and Jorge Polanco who pinch hit
had the three hits.
Luis Castillo went five innings giving
up five hits including two home runs.
Giancarlo Stanton had the first home
run the 12 he has on the season. Aaron Judge had his 15 home run on the
season. Yankees leading 2-0 when
Castillo left the game. Mariners had
opportunity to score in the sixth
inning however left runners on base.
The Yankees scored three more
times in the 7th inning on a single
by Juan Soto and two sacrifice
flies.
The Yankees are a good team
however the Mariners are good
as well. They showed they can
play with the big boys.
The Mariners have shown they
lack in the bullpen besides Andre
Munoz and Ryne Stanek being
the top two relievers. The Mariners
are hoping to have lefty Tayler
Saucedo back soon.
The Mariners made a trade with
Baltimore picking up right hander
Mike Baumann for triple A catcher
Blake Hunt who they acquired from
the Tamps Bay Rays last offseason.
The Mariners acquired a triple A
catcher Michael Perez with him.
The Orioles designated Baumann
because they activated a starter
off the injured list. The Orioles
had a lot of talent in bullpen and
the Mariners saw that.
Baumann ended up pitching in this
game after the three runs allowed.
Most likely we will see him in either
the seventh or eighth inning which
helps the Mariners out. The Mariners
sent Cole Bolton who has options
down to Tacoma.
Baumann had a tough April for
the Orioles however in May he
only gave up one run which was
on May 5 to the Reds. The Mariners
saw him pitch an inning against
them last Friday. We hope to
see him thrive with the Mariners.
