will not only look difference in the next
season 2024-25 since they are joining
the Big Ten but how often they play.
In the Pac-12 Washington would play
each team at home and away for the
most each season.. The last season they had two games where a team they played at home only and another on the road.
I remember one was USC and the other
Arizona State.
This coming season they play seven
home games against Big Ten teams
and seven road games against seven
other teams. Example Michigan and
Ohio State they play on the road. They
will see them at home the next. This
is according to the Seattle Times.
At home they play Indiana and Purdue
among the seven teams.
These are the 14 teams they play against
were in the conference before going.
They play Oregon, USC and UCLA who
join the Big Ten with them both at home
and on the road just like in the Pac-12
Makes up a total of 20 games. This was
the same as they played in the Pac-12
last year. In all the Huskies played 32
games. I would expect them to play 12
nonleague games again before the Big
Ten schedule.
We will find out later who they play in
non-league schedule. Most likely we
see the Huskies play Gonzaga once
again. It will be interesting whether
they play Washington State Cougars
or not. This would be the same other
teams in the old Pac-12 like Oregon
State.
The Huskies like the Cougars with
a new coach will see a new bunch
of plsyers. Most of the players on
the Huskies especially the starters
were in their last year of college
eligibility while the Cougars have
had players who left through the
transfer portal. Both the Huskies
and Cougars will have to use the
transfer portal as well as bringing
in new prospects. It is a new world
of college basketball in the same
way as football.
If you look at the history of the
Washington Huskies men's basketball
during Mike Hopkins time many of
those who transfered were guys who
didn't play much or had trouble with
losing.
I was hoping Koren Johnson who
is from Seattle and played two years
for the Huskies would stay under the
new coach however he decided to
transfer to Louisville. He would have
been experienced player with the Huskies.
Louisville has had a lot of success in
college men's basketball however not
sure recently though. Certainly has
been in the NCAA tournament a lot more
times than Washington. I wish the best
for Koren.
We will update more what the Huskies
roster looks like. I am sure the Huskies
women's team will have a similar
schedule as the Huskies. We could see
the schools in the Big Ten who the
men's are playing at home be on the
road and vice versa.
Go Dawgs!
