Mariners Win Another Series Opener

The Mariners have done a good job
this season winning opening game
of a series this year. Probably the
main reason they lead their division.

This gsme they won in an unusual
way. The final score was 5-4. The
Mariners began by scoring three
runs in the first inning.. Cal Raleigh
hit s sacrifice fly for the first run.
Ty France who was the hitter of
the day hit a double scoring the other
two runs.

The Mariners like often didn't score
for several innings until the fifth when
Cal Raleigh hit a single allowing JP
Crawford score for the second time.

Bryan Woo who pitched another
marvelous game shutting the
Angels for six innings and giving up
three hits. He didn't walk another
batter. They decided to take Woo
after the six innings with only 66
pitches thrown.

The 7th inning the Angels were able
to load the bases bring in Jo Adell
to pinch hit and ended up hitting
a grand slam homer off Tayler Saucedo.
This was after Trent Thornton had
the bases loaded.

In the 8th inning hit a home run end
a munificent day. Andre Munoz came
in the ninth for the save.

An unusual event ended the game
with Munoz picking off the runner
at first with  Jo Edell up for the
second time. That ended the game
as there were two outs. Those
things happen to a team that is
in last place.

Earlier in the day the Mariners fired
offensive coordinator and bench
coach Brant Brown. The media was
surprised however the way the
offense has been playing shouldn't
be a big surprise. Have to say
someone had to take the fall.
They could have gotten rid of a few
people in regards of the offense.

Bryce Miller will start on Saturday
late afternoon as the game will
be on Fox TV.

The Mariners increased their lead
as every other team in the division
lost. The Mariners may have weak-
nesses however at this time less
than the others. It is their pitching
that has  allowed them to be in
first.  Go M's.
